Who we are
The Society of Quantitative Analysts (SQA) and the Center of Excellence in Wireless and Information Technology (CEWIT) at Stony Brook University are the data controllers for your registration data. Contact: admin@alphathon.org, admin@sqa-us.org, info@cewit.org.
What we collect
Name, email address, a URL (for example a GitHub, LinkedIn, or academic page), team name, and any information you provide in your registration form or competition submissions.
Why we process it and on what legal basis

Who receives your data
- Our external competition and compute platform provider (acting as our processor under a data processing agreement) — receives your name, email, and submissions to operate the competition.
- We do not sell your personal data, and we do not “sell” or “share” it as defined under the California Consumer Privacy Act.
International transfers
The hackathon is operated in the United States. If you are located in the EU/EEA, UK, or Switzerland, your data will be transferred to the US under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework.
How long we keep it
Registration and submission data is retained for 6 months after the event ends, then deleted or anonymized. Prize and financial records are retained for 7 years (for legal and tax purposes). Published winners and leaderboard entries (team name, member names, and score) are retained indefinitely as a public historical record of the competition, and may be announced on social media (for example LinkedIn).
Your rights
You may request access, correction, deletion, or a copy of your data, object to processing, and withdraw any consent at any time (this won’t affect processing already carried out). EU/EEA residents may lodge a complaint with their supervisory authority. To exercise rights, email admin@alphathon.org, admin@sqa-us.org and info@cewit.org. Withdrawing an optional consent is as easy as giving it — use the same email or your account settings.
Age requirement
You must be at least 16 years old to register.
